A new wave of violence erupted in central Syria, triggered by the controversy surrounding a press conference held by the Civil Peace Committee member, Hassan Soufan, and the Interior Ministry spokesperson, Nour al-Din al-Baba.

Syria’s Alawite communities are facing a new wave of violence, particularly in central regions and the western coastal areas, leaving at least 18 people dead in less than 48 hours.
